Teen 2013
Winter Reading
Begins February 4th
Think your homework
is tough? Try wading
through sewage after
a flood, scooping up dog
poop at the animal shelter
or emptying a dumpster full
of rotting trash: These are
just a handful of the dirty
jobs tackled by thousands
of unsung heroes
everyday.
Do you have what it
takes to do a dirty job?
Learn about the dirty, yucky
and smelly jobs that people
do every single day through
Poplar Bluff Municipal
Library’s annual winter
reading program,
Dirty Jobs @ Your Library. The program will kick off on
Feb. 4.
Check back to see Children’s Librarian and
Youth Coordinator, Ashley
Robertson, as she takes a totally
hands-on approach to the
“dirty jobs” theme. Miss Ashley has personally signed
on to get her hands dirty, all in the name of encouraging
reading. So far, she’s made arrangements to scour
kennels at the Poplar Bluff Animal Shelter and clean up damage
and disaster with ServPro of Poplar Bluff, Dexter and Kennett.
More dirty jobs are in the works, she said.
“By taking a hands on approach to the dirty jobs, I’m encouraging kids to take an involved approach to reading and building literacy
skills,” Robertson said. “I also think getting my hands dirty will help library users appreciate the otherwise unpleasant jobs people do
everyday, both in Poplar Bluff and beyond.”
Catch Miss Ashley in the ACT!!!!
The camera is following Miss Ashley around town as she performs her “Dirty Jobs.”
These videos will make their debut after Feb. 4th!
